My Trip to Malta
The Museum of Archeology
A Model of the Tarzien Megalithic Structure, a vast collection of double apse spaces located near the underground Hypogeum (see below).
The Sleeping Lady found in the Hypogeum, a huge megalithic underground burial space
A Model of the underground Hypogeum. The Hypogeum is a vast network of carved underground burial and possibly ritual temple spaces. An above ground structure may have been above it. A large cistern is near the entrance point (on the right), a megalithic portal, several rounded chambers and a spectacular great hall and finely smoothed and carved space that may have been the place for pre-burial rituals. Sounds reverberate in the space and excavations found it was in use for over 1,000 years.
