You could go inside the pyramid and see an inner pyramid.  Amazingly many pyramids were built over other pyramids!  We didn't go inside, but if you do you can see two staues left there - one of a warrior (Chok-mool) and one of a jaguar.  You have to crawl inside and it is very close if you are claustrophobic.  We saw another Chok-mool (the statue of a reclining warrior built for offerings) on the top of the Temple of the Warriors which is surrounded by hundreds of columns.

Then it started to rain.  We dashed back to the hotel for a few Coronas.  I got some lovely opal earrings to match a necklace I got at a border town visit a few months ago.  Then we returned to the plane and back to Playa del Carmen. The flight back was a little bouncy and it rained, but by the time we arrived back in town it had stopped.

We got back to the hotel for lunch and a massage.  I had a nice aromatherapy massage, very relaxing! I got a manicure and joined Frank in the relaxing pool for our last evening.  We had a gorgeous dinner at the International restaurant and slept well.  We had breakfast on the balcony and it was cool and the air was velvety smooth.

A fabulous trip and a great introduction to the ancient Mayan culture!  A good precursor to my trip to Egypt this August.  If we ever come back I would like to see the ruins of Tulum and visit the snorkleing paradise of Xel-ha.  You can even swim with the dolphins there!  There are caves to snorkle in too!  I hope we do return soon.  I recommend the spring weather there!
